Halloween Overload

While technically this is a weekly photo update, I couldn't stick to a picture a day.  There was just too much cuteness.  Last week, we had trick or treat at the library with our storytime group, trick or treat with my parents at a local shopping area, pumpkin carving, and of course the main even - Halloween!

I am pretty sure Ben is going to want to go trick or treating every night and it will take a long time if we want to instill the whole "don't take candy from strangers" rule.  He thought it was a blast.  He carried around Ba (the giraffe) and his little candy bucket all night, and we mainly carried them in between houses.  We would set them down in the driveway and they would toddle up to the person with the candy.  Well, Maggie would.  Ben would set down the bucket and Ba and then make a dash for the candy bowl.  Luckily, they were cute enough that most people didn't mind they were taking candy for each hand, and sometimes wanting more.  We did collect enough suckers for our plane trip this week, so that is good.  I have no idea what we'll do with all the rest of the candy, but I think we'll manage.

Growing up, I remember mainly going around my parents block which was a huge hill and hardly anyone bothered.  This year, we went over to trick or treat with Ben and Maggie's cousin Ryan, and their neighborhood was just full of kids.  There was such a party atmosphere, music blaring, someone handing out "grown up" cider for the adults, neighbors gathered together in driveways with fire pits, it was fun.  It made me remember that these are the kinds of memories that we will share with them, we will show them pictures (photos, not video because as usual, we forgot) and they will know that this second Halloween was so much fun, and that Mommy and Daddy loved showing them off.

On to the weekly photos:

October 25 - This was Trick or Treat day at the library.  It was so cute!  I love being able to do stay at home Mommy kind of things like this.  We had a few songs and then trick or treated all around the library.  Thank goodness we brought Grandma, this would not have been a fun solo library day.

This is Ben and Maggie's friend Gianna.  Her Mommy is a friend of mine, and she blogs here.  She is one day younger than my kiddos, about a whole head taller, and is even a bigger talker than Maggie.  If Maggie got over her shyness, I think these two girlies could talk each other's ears off.
October 26 - This was my attempt at getting a picture of the two of them in their almost matching Halloween shirts.  Maggie is distracted by our fun refrigerator game that they got for their birthday.  It's funny, the toy said 18+ and they really just this month started to get it.  They have to match the front and back end of animals for one game and trucks for the other.  They love it, and it plays fun songs and makes animal noises.  Also notice, Kee is drinking two cups of milk.
October 27 - Daddy had a little fun with dinner tonight.  Aren't these the cutest little pot roast sandwich men you have ever seen?  With a little whining on my part, I got one too :-)
October 28 - This was the day we Trick or Treated around some local stores.  My parents brought over these buckets for them to carry around.  They worked equally well as a hat, which is the first thing Ben said when he saw them.  I think it looks quite cute on him, and he was very pleased to be wearing it.
Maggie barely able to move in her costume in her stroller.  It was cold, and the extra bundling made it interesting.
Ben spent a lot of time trying to throw himself out of the stroller so Grandma gave him a sucker.  He got the sucker all over his face and hands and tried to also eat the stick.  But he was manageable for trick or treating, so it was worth it!
There was even a firetruck to get pictures on.  See how cute!  Sorry about the lighting, the firemen were getting ready to leave, and I didn't want anyone falling off the truck.
October 29 - Since the babies have been snuffy and congested the past couple of weeks, we have been putting Vicks on their feet with socks.  On this night, Maggie was the only one who had been coughing, so I just did it for her.  I put Ben in his jammies, and he started whining about "socks, socks, socks!", jumping up and down and pointing at the sock drawer.  So we put them on top of his pajamas and he was happy.  He even had them on in the morning which I was shocked about.

This is one of his favorite library books because he knows many of the words.  On this page, the word he loves is bear - which he pronounces "beer" in a high tone.  One thing that I've started noticing is how he will get fixated on a word and repeat it and repeat it until you acknowledge what he is talking about or pointing to.  It's cute, but it can get old!
October 30 - I guess I was in a matchy mood this week.  See how cute they are in their Ohio State onesies and Babylegs?  This is a new favorite hang out, they love to crawl around under the kitchen table.
This was also pumpkin carving day.  Of course, they needed pumpkin appropriate outfits.  Maggie got into it, helping pull out the seeds and guts, putting the seeds in the bowl, etc.  Ben was grossed out and mainly yelled "No, no, no, ew!!!" when we tried to get him to touch it.
This part was exciting.  Look what's inside that pumpkin!  Maggie called it boogies :-)
I love this shot of Maggie standing in the cake pan.  Look at that face!
Mainly what she liked the most I think was stomping around on the newspaper.

Nope, not touching that, are you crazy Mommy?

The only thing he got into all night.  Scooping all the seeds out of the bowl with his "shovel".  And don't even think about trying to stop him.  Mommy and Daddy tried and got a full blown temper tantrum for our efforts.
The finished product.  Isn't Daddy an excellent carver and artist?  No patterns this year, Maggie's Monkey, regular fun Jack O'Lantern, and Ben's Ernie.  We were proud.
October 31 - Aw, babies with pumpkins!  They are both looking in the general direction of the camera.  Success!
The cutest trick or treaters on the block.  Ben and Maggie shared the wagon with cousin Ryan for a photo opportunity.  Aren't they a cute little zoo?
This is what happened when we tried to get a photo of all the trick or treaters together.  The other kids are Ryan's cousins on the other side.  Guess whose kids weren't cooperating?
Now tell me, wouldn't you want to give this monkey candy?  This is the only picture I managed to take while we were out, but I thought it was too sweet not to post.  Here goes Maggie, Kee in one hand, bucket in the other, banana in her pocket toddling up to the house for her candy.
Happy Halloween!!!
